[UNIFI LIGA SUPER MALAYSIA 2018] NIK AZLI GUNS DOWN KEDAH AND ENDS LOSING RUN

June 7, 2018

Kelantan forward Nik Azli Nik Alias expressed his delight after Kelantan ended a four-game losing streak in the unifi Liga Super Malaysia 2018 on Tuesday.

The 21 year-old played a pivotal role against Kedah two days ago as he managed to get a goal to bring the game back on level terms before playing a part in assisting his teammate for the second goal. Kelantan earned three points as they secured a 2-1 victory at Stadium Darul Aman in Alor Setar.

“I am happy with the result (against Kedah) as Kelantan have not won in a while,” he said.

“I am glad that I was able to help my team.

Nik Azli was substituted onto the field in the early stages of the second half and immediately made an impact in the game, which was exactly what Kelantan needed after a poor start and run in the season.

According to Nik Azli, he was surprised to see Fajer Ibrahim leave his role as head coach but has admitted that Yusri Che Lah has a different tactical approach that can benefit the Kelantan side.

“He (Fajer) enjoyed pressing teams with a high line whereas Yusri Che Lah took measures to be defensively-organized and wait on the perfect chance to play counter-attacking football," he concluded.

Kelantan will meet Kedah in the reverse fixture tomorrow, but the match will again be played at Stadium Darul Aman after the venue was asked to be changed by the Kelantan Football Association.
