Terengganu FC midfielder Lee Tuck believes the unifi Liga Super Malaysia match against Kedah on Friday will be vital for the club’s title challenge because a win will reduce the gap between them and league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim to a point, before The Southern Tigers visit Kelantan the next day.
The Englishman was brought into the Malaysian football scene when he signed for Negeri Sembilan last season and scored nine goals for them in 29 matches, only Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic (31) played in more games than him. Despite being in the country for less than two years, he has accustomed himself well to Malaysian football.
The Turtles will host The Red Eagles at Stadium Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah in Kuala Terengganu on April 27, before facing off against Pahang twice and Perak once in the space of 11 days.
We have a crucial round of matches coming up but the match against Kedah is extremely important because a win will apply pressure on the league leaders (JDT)," Lee Tuck said.
We need to head into the game like how we have been playing every game this season.
Lee Tuck has scored four goals this season and wants to improve on that tally, but he would work hard in the middle of the field rather than in front of the goal if that will help his team win.
“It is nice to score goals because that is how you win games. What would the point be if I score and the team loses? I would be sad at the end of the day. It is not vital to score goals because it is just a bonus.
The midfielder, who turns 30 in June, has warned his teammates to be wary of Kedah duo Liridon Krasniqi and Sandro da Silva because they have the ability to perform at any given time.
“They (Liridon and Sandro) are great players and they know how to win trophies,” he concluded.
Terengganu FC will host Kedah in Kuala Terengganu on Friday at 9:00 PM, with the match being broadcast live on unifi TV channel HyppSports3.
