UiTM FC head coach Wan Mustaffa Wan Ismail stated that his only intention is to win the Challenge Cup.
The Lion Troops began preparations for the Challenge Cup last week and he is confident that his team will earn a positive result against Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) in Shah Alam tonight.
The university team finished in ninth place in 100PLUS Liga Premier Malaysia 2018, level on points with fellow university side UKM FC and Sarawak, and Wan Mustaffa wants his team to refocus his attention to the inaugural Challenge Cup.
“We kickstarted our preparations more than a week ago and all of the players are ready,” he said.
“I am positive that they will give their all in the first game tonight.
The 54 year-old is relieved that none of his players are injured and that the squad is at its fittest.
“There are no injuries and I will select the best eleven players," he concluded.
However, the Challenge Cup campaign for UiTM FC will be managed by the club’s assistant head coach, Reduan Abdullah, because Wan Mustaffa was assigned to prepare the squad that will be taking part in the qualifying rounds for the upcoming international University Games in China.
The other Group B match will feature Pulau Pinang and Piala FAM 2018 side ATM FA.
