Terengganu FC captain Tchetche Kipre is extremely delighted with his team after earning three valuable points in the 1-0 win against Pahang at Stadium Darul Makmur in Kuantan last Friday.
The Ivory Coast forward has been in fine form for The Turtles this season, scoring seven goals in all competitions and is joint-second amongst the top goalscorers in unifi Liga Super Malaysia this year.
Terengganu FC moved up to fifth place in the league standings after Faiz Nasir scored the only goal in the match against Pahang. Prior to that match, the team lost two consecutive games in the league.
"The win against Pahang was extremely important because we lost twice in a row (against Pahang and Perak), but we managed to end the bad run by earning three points," Kipre said.
"We are looking to finish within the top five this season, but it is still a long way to go.
Tchetche Kipre praised head coach Irfan Bakti for always believing in him even when he does not score. The 31 year-old was the only foreign player to be retained by Irfan from last season.
"I am glad that he (Irfan) has kept faith in me all this while.
"He believes in my potential and all I want to do is repay him for not giving up on me," he concluded.
Kipre spent five years playing football in Tanzania before moving to Oman side Al-Nahda two years ago. He then signed with Al-Suwaiq and helped his team to secure the 2017 Sultan Qaboos Cup.
He joined Terengganu during the mid-season transfer window last year and scored nine goals in 100PLUS Liga Premier Malaysia 2017 to help them gain qualification to Liga Super Malaysia.
