Kuala Lumpur head coach Fabio Magrao has a special connection to the month of Ramadan and believes that it will be influential for his side in the second half of unifi Liga Super Malaysia 2018.
The Brazilian was the man responsible for securing promotion from 100PLUS Liga Premier to the highest division of Malaysian, and the reason behind the success was because of the strict dietary plans that were enforced onto the players during the month of Ramadan in 2017.
This year, Fabio Magrao wants his players to stick to the plan to ensure that they stay fit and healthy.
"I know this month will be hard for the players who will be fasting, so we decide to prepare a special training program that will include a list of supplements for before and after training sessions," he said.
"It is extremely important for the boys to follow this regime because it will be beneficial to them.
The 41 year-old coach understands that the players will have their pre-dawn meal (sahur) and also break fast (buka puasa) at home, so his staff will help the team out as much as they can.
He is also excited to see how his younger players adapt to the month of Ramadan.
"It will be good for them (young players) because they were with us last season, so I am positive that almost all of them will apply what they have used then for this season.
Fabrio Magrao spent some time playing football in United Arab Emirates and noticed how hard it was for his teammates to go through the month of Ramadan but believes that his squad will pull it off.
